Description: This one day meeting will provide you the basic knowledge and essential updates of antimicrobial resistance. Experts from Europe, Asia and mainland China will be invited to have brief review of antimicrobial resistance including bacterial infection, antimicrobial resistance and nosocomial infection. Also the AMR Study Group from ESCMID will introduce and explained the European protocols. Apart from the general lectures, there will be luncheons which allow a face-to-face interactive discussion with the experts. The workshop will allow you to share experience and discuss about the special issues.

·          To have an in-depth discussion between experts from Chinese and ESCMID experts
·          To get Chinese doctors acquainted with European protocols

ESCMID Study Group for Antimicrobial Resistance Surveillance - ESGARS

ESGARS is permanently represented in the Advisory Board of the European Antimicrobial Resistance Surveillance System (EARSS). EARSS, funded by DG SANCO of the European Commission and coordinated by the Dutch National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM), is a European network of national surveillance systems, which collects comparable and validated antimicrobial resistance data for public health purposes.

The present ESGARS representative is its President, Fernando Baquero.

Further ESGARS Officers sitting in the EARSS Advisory Board have been Giuseppe Cornaglia (still present, acting as the ESCMID EC representative), Waleria Hryniewicz (Warsaw, Poland) and Helmut Mittermayer (Linz, Austria).

Vincent Jarlier (Paris) and Alkiviadis Vatopoulos (Athens, Greece) joined the EARSS Advisory Board during 2006
