Wing Wai Yew graduated from Hong Kong University Medical School in 1974 with distinctions. He was  Consultant of Tuberculosis and Chest Unit at Grantham Hospital from 1984 to 2010, and was the Chief of Service and Senior Consultant in the same Department from 1994 to 2010. He is currently the Honorary Consultant in Training and Research in the same Hospital , after retirement from clinical service. He was appointed the Editor-in-Chief of International Journal of Tuberculosis and Lung Disease from January 2011 onwards. He now still holds the Honorary Professorships of the two Departments of Microbiology in Hong Kong University and Chinese University of Hong Kong, respectively. His main research interests are in various aspects of tuberculosis and mycobacterial diseases. He has published more than 200 papers, almost totally in indexed Journals., and has been author of chapters in 16 books.
